How to apply for CLAT PG

CLAT PG stands for common law admission test for post graduate. An all-India centralized examination that allows the students to get admissions into various post graduate {PG}. courses offered at National law universities in India for LLM courses.

CLAT PG Eligibility:

  • An LL. B Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belongs to general/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories. For SC & ST candidates more than 45% of marks are eligible.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible for apply.
  • For CLAT there is no upper age limit is prescribed.
  • Tie Breaker rule: In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be, by the following procedure:
  1. Higher age 
  2. Computerized draw of lots

CLAT PG Syllabus & Guide:

The PG CLAT will feature an emphasis on the comprehension abilities of the students. It shall be 12o minutes with one duration.

The first section 120 objective type of questions each carries 1 mark. For every wrong answer there is a negative 0.25 marks.

The paper will be based on mandatory subjects for undergraduate programs and includes constitutional law, jurisprudence, administrative law, law of contracts, torts, family law, criminal law, property law, company law, public international law, tax law, environmental law, labour and industrial law.

Objective section:

In this section CLAT PG will be provided extracts from primary legal materials such as important court decisions in various fields of law, statutes or regulations. Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate:

  • Ability to read and comprehend the issues discussed in passage, as well as any arguments and viewpoints are discussed or set out in the passage.
  • Awareness of issues are discussed in the passage, as well as legal issues and facts that are related to and arising out of the passage and the judgement or statue from which it is extracted.
  • Summarise the passage and ability to apply your knowledge of the fields of law discussed in the passage.

Preparing for the PG-CLAT

As part of your preparation for the PG-CLAT:

  • Read and refresh your knowledge of important judgements and try to discern various issues discussed in such judgements.
  • Refresh your knowledge for important constitutional and legislative provisions, particularly those that may have been discussed in recent judgements and it would also be useful to ensure you are aware of historical case law and amendments and related to such provisions, so that you have a more complete awareness of such provisions and the issues related to them.

Step 2 – Login to application form.

Step 3 – Fill the CLAT registration form by entering your name, mobile number and email id.

Step 4 – Upload images.

Step 5 – Enter details.

Step 6 – Preview & final submit.

Step 7 – You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number & email id.

Step 8 – Complete your registration by entering the OTP in the CLAT login page.

Step 9 – Payment

Step 10 – Print the confirmation page.
